Dear Prospective Volunteer Driver,
Call A Ride of Southlake (CARS) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation providing free rides to senior citizens and adult disabled adults in the Southlake area. CARS allows users who might otherwise be confined to their homes to obtain medical and personal services, accomplish banking and shopping, and participate in community senior activities. The Office Manager receives requests for rides and arranges with volunteer drivers, using their own vehicles, to provide the needed service. A volunteer board of directors oversees the operations. Funding is provided through fundraising projects, donations by individuals and businesses, and a grant from the City of Southlake.
Qualified Riders request transportation by calling the CARS Office Manager at least a week before the trip is to be made. A Trip Ticket is prepared which lists the name, address, telephone number of the Rider and the details of the trip; date, appointment time, pick-up time, return time and the address of the trip destination. The Office Manager arranges with a Volunteer Driver to provide the transportation. On the day of the trip, the Volunteer Driver picks up the User using their personal car. The miles traveled and the time used is reported back to the Office Manager via email or a call to be recorded in our Trip Ticket for the end of the year reports.
Our Volunteer Drivers enjoy providing this service to interesting and cheerful seniors and disabled adults. I think you will enjoy helping out with this much needed service.

After we’ve received your application, we will send you a Background Check Form that will need to be filled out and returned to us. If you have questions, please call me at 817-798-4022. You will be interviewed by one of our members and further details of the CARS operation can be provided at that time. All Users fill out a similar application and are interviewed before being qualified to receive our service.
